Essential Oil Wiped Film Vacuum Molecular Distillation Equipment

Wiped Film/Molecular distillation is the best thermal separation method for heat sensitive materials because it is the mildest type, resulting in the least amount of thermal degradation of the product. Our wiped film evaporation and distillation systems are widely used in vegetable oil, garlic oil, cod liver oil as well as in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Shorter residence time, lower separation temperature, and continuous unattended operation make the wiped-film molecular (short-path) evaporative distillation system stand out.

Molecular distillation is a special liquid-liquid separation equipment. Unlike traditional distillation, which relies on the separation principle of boiling point difference, it relies on the difference in the mean free path of different substances. As the liquid mixture flows along the inner walls of the main evaporator and is heated, light and heavy molecules escape from the liquid surface and enter the gas phase. Due to the different free paths of light molecules and heavy molecules, molecules of different substances travel different distances after escaping from the liquid surface. After light molecules pass through the condensate pipe built into the main evaporator, they reach the condensate pipe and are discharged, while heavy molecules cannot reach the condensate pipe and are discharged along the mixed liquid.

As shown in the figure above, under ideal conditions, the liquid mixture is heated by flowing along the heating plate, and the light and heavy molecules will escape from the liquid surface and enter the gas phase. Due to the different free paths of light molecules and heavy molecules, the distances that molecules of different substances move after escaping from the liquid surface are also different. If the condensing plate is set properly, light molecules will reach the condensing plate and be condensed out, while heavy molecules will not reach the condensing plate and be discharged along the mixture.

The material is conveyed from the feed tank to the jacketed main evaporator. The main evaporator is continuously heated. The built-in scraper evenly scrapes the material into a flowing liquid film, which evaporates instantly. The light component material starts to vaporize and is adsorbed on the built-in condensing coil, and flows into the receiving bottle along the outer wall of the condensing tube, and the heavy component material flows into the receiving bottle along the inner wall of the main evaporator.

Wiped Film Vacuum Molecular Distillation Equipment Precautions for use：

1. The cold trap is pre-filled with liquid nitrogen and frozen

2. The equipment is heated with oil, the temperature is high, please do not touch it with your hands to avoid burns

3. Working temperature from -80°C to 250°C (300C needs to be customized)

4. Check whether the cooling water valve is opened normally before use
